Spider-Man: Tom Holland on the new movie
Yet now that they have found their lead, the film is ready to welcome Tom Holland as the new Spidey while it plans to add two well-known Marvel characters into the story.
Tom Holland is set to appear as Peter Parker in “Captain America: Civil War”, but one year later, we’ll be getting a solo film with everybody’s favorite wall-crawler – and according to Holland himself, that film will shoot in Atlanta, just like Marvel’s “Civil War” and “Ant-Man” before it.
Holland also said that Robert Downey Jr. was involved in his first screen test and gave him some helpful advice for the audition.
Although Tom – who starred in tsunami drama The Impossible – will be revealed as Spider-Man for the first time in May’s Captain America release – he isn’t seen in the trailer which was released this week.
Speaking to the Associated Press while making the promotional rounds for In the Heart of the Sea, Holland said that he coincidentally told Empire magazine years back that if he had to play any superhero in a movie it would be Spider-Man in a post-Andrew Garfield reboot.
‘Growing up, I had countless Spider-Man costumes…
The actor – who made his debut as the lead role in Billy Elliot The Musical in London when he was 12-years-old – was named as the new Peter Parker earlier this year. “I think it’s quite interesting to go back to that hiding behind a mask”, Tom told Super Hero Hype. “He’s always been a big part of my life and a big part of boys’ lives because everybody can relate to him”, Holland said. Downey Jr. slipped to Evans, “By the way, we are going to shoot in Atlanta again, you and I”. No, because director James Gunn has already gone on record stating that Iron Man will not be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. We probably will end up here [in New York] for one week or two’. Comicbook.com noted there is “a lot riding on Sony’s second relaunch of the Spider-Man franchise” and it might prudent to include Marvel’s biggest cinematic stars to buoy the webcrawler’s new status quo.
