Playing in his 20th season, all with the Los Angeles Lakers, retire-after-this-season-5767/”>Bryant recently announced that this would be his last.
Durant is the deputy publisher of The Players’ Tribune, the online publication that ran Bryant’s poem Sunday announcing his retirement.
Bryant, who helped lead the Lakers to the National Basketball Association title five times, is averaging 15.5 points per game but shooting below 31 percent this season.
With former and current players reacting to the news, Magic Johnson had high praise for Kobe and called him “the closest thing we’ve seen to Michael Jordan” according to Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo!
“You don’t have an opportunity to be around greatness very often”, said Phoenix Suns guard Ronnie Price, who played with Bryant last season.
Rudin says he’s seen prices jump hourly since Bryant’s announcement Sunday night, a trend that seems to have impacted other vendors like Stub Hub, where loge seats go for as much as $19,000. “You guys treated one of our legends like shit and I don’t really like it. Hopefully, now you can start being nice to him now that’s he’s chose to retire after this year”. The letter, published in 2003 as a Nike ad in newspapers nationwide, similarly invoked his love of the game and memories of playing as a child.
Back in January 2006, Kobe scored 81 points in a game against Toronto, putting him behind only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in the National Basketball Association history books.
Sixers coach Brett Brown spent the majority of Bryant’s career scheming of ways to stop him when he was working as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs. I know you gotta report the games, but you’re going too in-depth about how bad he is. I’m so proud of you.
“I had to come to terms with it”, said Bryant, speaking after the Lakers 107- 103 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Los Angeles.
“It’s definitely a sad, sad day but he’s been in the game a long time”. I want you to know now So we both can savor every moment we have left together.
