Donald Trump Will Not Be Endorsed by 100 Black Pastors Today
On Wednesday, Trump’s campaign announced that he would receive the endorsement of 100 black pastors at a news conference after the meeting.
After inviting 100 prominent black pastors to a press conference scheduled for Monday, the Trump campaign prematurely announced their endorsements to the dismay of some invited guests.
On Sunday he tweeted: “Will be meeting on Monday at Trump Tower with a large group of African American Pastors”.
I’m ready to concede that Donald Trump is the most anomalous figure I’ve seen in presidential politics.
Still, Trump stood by his comments today: “I saw it. So many people saw it…”
“I have a great relationship with many of them”, he said of the unnamed pastors.
Some of the invitees spoke out and said that they were not planning on endorsing Trump, Politico reports. Trump declares that he “saw love in that room” and added that he sees “love everywhere I go”. “This is not a press event, but a private meeting, after which, a number of attendees are expected to endorse Mr. Trump’s campaign for President”. Mr. Trump, if I say people have said Trump’s not worth ten billion dollars and people were saying- You wouldn’t make a business deal based on retweets and hearsay.
“Some committed”, Scott stated when asked about endorsements.
Trump has also drawn strong criticism and disbelief from legal experts for saying earlier this month that he would require American Muslims to register in a database in response to the Paris terrorist attacks.
Ebony magazine also wrote an open letter to the religious leaders, titled: “Think of Trump’s Rhetoric Before Meeting With Him”.
Trump said after Monday’s meeting that he would not change his tone as a candidate, which he said had taken him to “first position” in preference polls.
Bishop Corletta Vaughn, Senior Pastor of The Holy Ghost Cathedral and the star of another reality show, Preachers of Detroit, explained on Facebook why she had refused to attend: “Trump is an insult and embarrassment”.
Donald Trump has defended his declaration that he saw thousands of Muslims in Jersey City celebrate the 9/11 terror attacks.
“Why wouldn’t it have taken place?” “I saw it and so many people saw it, Chuck”.
Then Trump proceeds to mock Kovaleski who, according to The Associated Press, has arthrogryposis, a congenital condition that restricts joint movement. He said, ‘I don’t think he speaks to the African American community. “I don’t know it it’s an endorsement, I don’t know if it’s an endorsement by some”.
