Official CyanogenMod ROM in development for OnePlus 2
OnePlus One earned a special place in the hearts of Android tinkerers and developers and the device has a proud successor in the OnePlus 2 handset.
OnePlus 2, which was launched earlier this year, is all set to get an official CyanogenMod ROM, a GitHub repository suggests. The official CyanogenMod ROM for the OnePlus 2 was spotted on Reddit.
So if you have an LG G4, Moto X, Nexus 7 tablet or the economical OnePlus One, give the stable Marshmallow build a try with this popular custom ROM.
Unfortunately, due to a conflict with Micromax in India, OnePlus had to end its partnership with Cyanogen. This happens because, theoretically, every future build that leaves the repository is backed by the community, and this means a lot of support and quality control from the cohort of members.
In a nutshell, the love-hate relationship between CyanogenMod and OnePlus reads like this: the OnePlus One handset launched with CyanogenMod onboard. This resulted in the release of the Oxygen OS and thereafter, all OnePlus devices shipped with the same.
Besides the usual changes included in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, LG also adds its own tweaks and improvements, which have already been detailed on the company’s official website.
If for any reason you’re not all that into OxygenOS, then, it shouldn’t be too long before proper CyanogenMod ROMs are available as an alternative, packing all the CM features we know and love.
The last important thing to note is that those moving from CyanogenMod 12.1 will also need to update their apps, such as through OpenGapps, Xposed, etc., and third-party addons after updating to CM13.
