Adele’s 25 is officially the UK’s biggest selling Number 1 album ever
In the United Kingdom, The Guardian reports, the British singer’s “25” is also making headway toward being the fastest-selling album, having sold over 538,000 copies. “All I Ask”, one of the most emotionally searing songs on the album, intimates at a future rather than a past breakup. The previous record holder being Susan Boyle’s 2009 debut “I Dreamed A Dream” that sold 17,435.
25’s download haul is already more than the former single-week download record-holder: Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which sold 662,000 digital copies in its first week (ending May 29, 2011). It could – and it did, two days ago.
Adele’s net worth is believed to have topped net worths of her closest music rivals.
The 24-year-old budding superstar was announced as the 2016 victor of the BRITS Critics Choice Award.
The US online radio service, Pandora Inc., has made all songs of Adele’s album available to the audience.
The latter – which went on to become the fourth-biggest selling album in the United Kingdom ever – sold 208,000 in its first week. The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which has sold 5.1 million copies, is Britain’s best-selling studio album.
“No album has ever sold 800,000 copies to reach number one in the history of British music”.
Meanwhile, after smashing the record for first week sales in the USA previously held by N’Sync’s “No Strings Attached” album, Adele has added another notch to her belt by breaking the same record in her home territory of the UK.
Apple also clarified to ET that Adele’s whole album won’t be released in Apple Music, but “25” will be available for purchase on iTunes.
I’ll say it again: put aside anything you may think of Adele and her music.
Fatone confessed, ‘Records are always meant to be broken but with technology and current music business model, I thought this one would be tough to beat’.
