A guide to Minneapolis police shooting of Jamar Clark
Four militant white supremacists were charged on Monday for their connection to a domestic terror act targeting Black Lives Matter protesters who were demanding accountability for racist police brutality in Minneapolis last week. He has been charged with second-degree riot while armed and five counts of second-degree assault.
The other men, Joseph Backman, 27; Nathan Gustavsson, 21; and Daniel Macey, 26, have each been charged with second-degree rioting.
Protests began nearly immediately after Jamar Clark was shot in the head by a Minneapolis police officer.
The campaigners also said that police said to them “isn’t this what you wanted” after the shooting, and used mace on people tending to the wounded.
The officer was aware that Scarsella owned and carried guns and had “very intense opinions” that were pro-sovereign citizen and pro-Constitution, the complaint said. The earlier video shows two men who identify themselves as “SaigaMarine” and “Black Powder Ranger” speaking into a camera while apparently driving to a protest site. The man, the witness said, was “punched in the face by the crowd” and as they were being escorted out, they opened fire.
Facebook Allen Lawrence Scarsella is in custody, accused of shooting people near a Black Lives Matter protest.
The Minneapolis chapters of Black Lives Matter and the NAACP issued a joint statement in response to Mayor Hodges. Protesters have also been conducting a sit-in since Clark was shot, calling for the release of video documenting his death. He pointed out that the sentences for the crimes the four men were charged with were longer than those for any hate crime designation in Minnesota.
According to the criminal complaints, the group went to the protest November 23 with plans to stir things up. Scarsella has a $500,000 bond, while the other men’s bonds are set at $250,000 each.
“They can have the street”.
They are dressed in camouflage clothing and masks and the unidentified friend ends the video by brandishing a gun and saying “stay white”.
“If Mayor Hodges is so concerned about safety, she should join us and call for the appointment of special prosecutor to investigate Jamar Clark’s murder to avoid using a broken grand jury system”, organizer Miski Noor said in the statement. “To be honest, we’re not going nowhere”. Police say they struggled with Clark, and he was shot.
On Nov. 24, the day after the shooting, officers arrested Scarsella and viewed the contents of his phone, which showed he was in the area of the shooting when the events took place. It also accuses Schwarze of threatening to beat that passenger and another if they exited the vehicle. In addition to the excessive force claims, the suit alleges Hanson was falsely arrested. The case was moved last Tuesday from Hennepin County District Court to U.S. District Court.
