Cyber Monday a success? Amazon and Adobe think so
Some have pointed out that consumers on Cyber Monday may be more likely to bail out at the first sign of site delays.
Cyber Monday was set to break the record for United States ecommerce sales but it was dwarfed by the big November 11 “Singles Holiday” in China which generated some $14 billion in sales, according to online giant Alibaba. The best deals in the extended holiday shopping season usually being offered on Cyber Monday, not on Black Friday, for the retailers to sell out their inventories. Anyway, let’s take a look at some of those stores and what they have to offer for Cyber Monday. Each of those thousands of products still remains mystery until now. In addition, online sales have already hit over eight billion dollars over Thanksgiving weekend – a 17% increase over a year ago.
That’s according to the National Retail Federation, which estimates today that more than 103 million people shopped online during the period from Thanksgiving through Sunday, with 102 million shopping in physical stores.
2015 will be a key year for American retail, with more Americans shopping online over the Thanksgiving weekend than in physical stores. However, retailers including Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy started up earlier in the hopes that online shopping will be big.
This year’s Cyber Monday wasn’t without its frustrations, however, as consumers received word that their chosen item for purchase was out of stock up to 20 percent of the time, according to Adobe data. Past year on Cyber Monday it was a record-breaking day for Amazon – 43 million items ordered.
The trade organization also predicted a sales increase of 3.7 percent for the entire holiday season this year – slightly below the 4.1 percent increase notched in 2014.
“You’re able to pick out more for each individual I think”, said Amanda Deckard.
“Online shipping is a big part of our business”, Flathau said. Keep in mind that if storage is an issue, one might consider going for another deal on a different iPad with more storage somewhere else.
“We expect to see high demand from customers continue from this point forward with increasing numbers shopping right up until Christmas Eve”.
The organization reported that 29.6 million, or 24.4% of online shoppers, said they will use their mobile devices to shop on Cyber Monday.
Shoppers visiting Target’s website, for example, experienced delays Monday morning.
“If you shop online a lot, then all of your stuff is saved there, so it’s just two clicks and you’re good to go”, Gonzalez said.
