AARP Trolls Struggling Golfer After Disastrous British Open — Tiger Woods News
A 6-foot 8-inch specimen who runs like a gazelle throws a basketball off the backboard, catches it in midair and thrashes it down with one hand while we go ohhhhhhhh!!! He had only three birdies over 36 holes and said he has no idea why his shots didn’t penetrate in the wind and why he couldn’t get it close enough to the hole. It’s just that his time has come and gone…and there’s nothing wrong with that.
But barring a completely improbable turnaround, they need not worry about Tiger winning four or five more majors.
It was a forlorn hope by the time he got started last evening and three straight bogeys to kick off were symptomatic of his demise.
Tiger Woods is rooting for Jason Day.
The pre-championship theory, plausible it seemed, was that even the lost Tiger we’ve seen so often this season would be freed of the constricts that avail him everywhere else on this hallowed ground for him. Another missed cut – that should be confirmed when he finally concludes his second round – would suggest otherwise, Tony Jacklin wistfully agreeing that the Tiger era could probably now be referred to in the past tense. That’s something that I feel you have to do here on this golf course. There’s nothing like getting out of the bubble. He’s got the game. “I’m standing here talking about lacking confidence and belief in what I’m doing”. I had some pretty apparent flaws in my technique.
“The golf course wasn’t playing that hard”, Woods said.
“I had the opportunity to play with every great player that was alive”.
The course allowed me to test myself, to find out how much that person knows about the game.
“It was one thing after another”.
“It’s still going to be tough, but I think the scoring conditions are going to be a lot more accessible, more playable”.
It’s unsafe to write off once-in-a- generation players in any sport because their otherworldliness could very well mean they have the ability to overcome the odds and be great again. “If you shoot good, solid rounds then you can move up the board”.
At St Andrews, I walked around with Shane Lowry for a couple of holes.
Woods will fall out of the top 250 when the next world ranking is published after starting the year at No. 32. It’s an unbelievable accomplishment, but people still think he’s fair game for abuse when he is one of our finest sportsmen. Tiger went on to say,”I’m still young”. Maybe then I could have told him what I wanted to say.
Plaques and paintings and old photographs throughout St. Andrews honor the 143 past British Open champions.
