Silva may start against Hull – Pellegrini
Someone needs to show they’re capable of winning the league this season, and, frankly, Manchester City have the firepower that makes them overwhelming favourites.
“I think for our team the only realistic thing is to beat Hull on Tuesday”.
Sergio Aguero looks likely to be left out after he limped off with what looked like an ankle injury against the Saints, although Pellegrini has played down its severity saying it was merely a “kick in the heel”.
Manuel Pellegrini has overseen a positive start to the season at City, which was most recently updated last weekend in their 3-1 win over Southampton. “Not only Raheem, but all the players to play against the team they work for many players”, said Pellegrini.
It’s also unlikely that skipper Vincent Kompany and fullback Pablo Zabaleta will feature given their current knocks, while Eliaquim Mangala is certainly out.
“So, especially in defending, we can not make so many changes”.
“We would have much rather had the game at home, don’t get me wrong, but this is what we miss, what we all miss, going to the big grounds and playing against the big teams”.
The Tigers will take on the Premier League giants this evening for a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
“Up until Friday we hadn’t been beaten for four months”, he said. To do so they’ll need to overcome a tough Hull defense, a side that has won six of their previous nine in the Championship – all by shutout.
The League Cup has so far proven to be relatively easy going for Manchester City, who have registered two easy wins over Sunderland (1-4) and Crystal Palace (5-1).
Aguero has played 14 games in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals. Hopefully I can keep putting in good performances and make sure I go. I’d imagine they’d like to give a run out to David Silva but then again they might not want to risk him.
“Kun came off as a precaution”, Pellegrini said on Saturday.
He added: “I think it’s hard [to win all four], but you as a manger want to be involved in all competitions”.
