Maruti Suzuki India Sales Up 9.7% in November
Exports went up by one percent in the month under review with 10,225 units being shipped out – up from 10,123 units sold overseas during the corresponding month of 2014.
Domestic sales increased 23 percent Y-o-Y to 39,383 units while exports grew only 1 percent to 2,207 units in the month gone by.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Ford India were among the few automobile companies that maintained the tempo of festival season with an increase in sales in November over the year-ago period.
However, the mini segment which has cars like Alto, WagonR recorded a de-growth of 4.7 percent.
M&M said passenger vehicle sales rose 36 percent to 19,662 units and utility vehicles sales increased 37 percent to 18,686 units compared to same month past year. Celerio – which has sold over 1.3 lakh units – is also the first auto from the company to get the compact diesel engine and the only hatchback in its segment to come in three fuel options – namely, petrol, diesel and CNG.
However, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) reported a 3.61 per cent decline in its domestic sales at 14,712 units in November.
Speaking about best performing Maruti Suzuki cars for the month of November 2015, it was once again the company’s compact cars – Swift, Celerio, Baleno, Dzire, Ritz that posted the maximum increase.
He said sales at Mahindra were driven by new product launches such as the TUV300 as well as growth momentum of existing products like the Bolero, Scorpio and XUV500. Last year, Diwali was in the month of October which made November a low base month.
Ford India’s domestic sales were at 8,773 units last month, up 54.97 per cent from 5,661 units a year ago.
