Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is ‘disillusioned’ with life under
Meanwhile, Ander Herrera has played down talk linking him with a move away from United.
The source claimed: “Ander is anxious about his lack of progress at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal”.
But Herrera has been quick to deny that he is unsettled – taking to social media to confirm his commitment to the club.
In a Tweet, he added: “Interview given last week”.
The £29m signing from Athletic Bilbao has had to endure long spells on the sidelines under Van Gaal. He attached a photograph of the matchday programme from last week’s draw with PSV Eindhoven, which included the rather endearing pullquote: “I don’t want this dream to finish”.
An excellent passer of the ball, Herrera is also capable of operating in deeper midfield positions if required, but the summer acquisitions of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have restricted his chances in that regard.
The Spaniard, who cost £28.8 million when he joined United in 2014, was a player first identified by Van Gaal’s predecessor David Moyes and his omission from the team has disappointed fans.
According to The Independent and the Manchester Evening News, the Basque midfielder is unhappy with his lack of game time having made just six league starts this season and is seeking assurances that he will see the field more regularly.
