Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo Make Ballon d’Or shortlist
Neymar has been named as a finalist for football’s highest individual honor alongside his Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristian Ronaldo.
The Portuguese forward and Messi have accounted for the last seven FIFA Ballon d’Or titles, Barcelona’s talisman winning four to Ronaldo’s three.
In addition to his best player award, Messi also scooped the award for best forward in Spain’s top flight last season.
“This award, in particular, I want to dedicate to my son Thiago, even if he does not fully understand yet”.
“When I leave home, he always gets mad and says: ‘Are you going to the goal again?’ Yes, I tell him, I’m going to the goal!”.
The three of them, Messi, Suarez and Neymar, the great MSN of Barcelona, have contributed to the scoring of 125 goals over the period of the last calendar year 2015, which no other European team, other than Bayern Munich, has been able to achieve.
“Being nominated for the Ballon d’Or means rather a lot”, Neymar stated.
The ESPN FC crew debate whether or not Luis Suarez should have made the Ballon d’Or shortlist over Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 23-year-old will take his place alongside team-mate Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on stage in Zurich at the annual Ballon d’Or ceremony on 11th January.
“I do feel Neymar is more influential these days”, Balague said.
“I would be very happy if Barca’s trident formed the three candidates, for all the history we are making and for all we are winning, the three of us should be there”. “We’ll have a good time”, he said.
Bravo was named best goalkeeper after conceding 19 times during the 2014-15 season, and he said “being here is an enormous privilege and receiving this award is a dream come true”.
Bravo was delighted with his recognition for his debut Barca season in which he conceded just 19 goals as his side proved the competition’s most frugal defence.
Liverpool spent the most of any club as they paid out £14.3 million to the sport’s middle men over the last two transfer windows, according to figures released by the Premier League on Monday.
