LG to roll out all-metal Zero smartphone
On the power front, LG rather skates over things with mention of a “1.2GHz Quad-Core Processor”, suggesting that it’s far from a top performer.
Currently, there is no word on the pricing of the product, however, as the phone was launched earlier in the year in its home country of South Korea for about $340, it is safe to say it will not be a very expensive device. Sadly this doesn’t mean long hair, noodly guitar solos and grumpily refusing to leaves its bedroom while listening to Slayer – instead this is the release of the LG Zero, the company’s first smartphone with a full metal body. One of the biggest differences between the two handsets is in RAM – the Zero packs 1.5GB of RAM while Class came with 2GB of RAM. “Complementing the solid aluminum exterior would be a 5” In-Cell Touch IPS display that is touted to offer faster recognition, better outdoor visibility and crisper images. The device has 16GB of internal storage along with microSD card slot for expansion upto 2TB.
The LG Zero will roll out globally starting from this week in Taiwan followed by other key markets in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
The Android 5.1 Lollipop-powered phone draws its juice from a 2050mAh battery and is available in Black and Gold colour choices. “Fans of popular G Series features such as Gesture Shot, Gesture View and Gesture Interval Shot will be delighted to find these options in the LG Zero as well”.
A few weeks back, South Korean electronics giant LG introduced its first metal-clad smartphone the Zero (also known as the Class in Germany, Korea, Russia, and Singapore). There is a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. For connectivity, the LG Zero supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, and Micro-USB. “The LG Zero exhibits innovation not only in its design but in its ability to offer premium features at a competitive price point”.
