Tomlin says Roethlisberger has a concussion
After voluntarily removing himself from the game on Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was diagnosed with a traumatic ocular migraine, but said he is concussion-free. He struggled with drops against the Seahawks, but still managed to catch five passes for 69 yards on a whopping 13 targets and showed off his tremendous speed and playmaking ability on an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Roethlisberger has been racking up the passing yards and some touchdowns since his return, but he has also been turning the ball over.
Point spread: Steelers opened as six-point favorites; the total was early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report). The vision issues, he said, went away about a half hour after Sunday’s game and have not recurred.
Russell Wilson, Seahawks, was 21 of 30 for 345 yards and a career-high five touchdowns, powering Seattle to a wild 39-30 win over Pittsburgh. “We’ve just got to get back and watch it and come back with a lot of focus”.
This has been a weird season for the Seahawks, and despite the fact that they’re really only one game off of their record at this time previous year (7-4 to now 6-5), the “feeling” of the team has been very different. Cincinnati is up next on the road; the Bengals bounced back from a two-game losing streak to blow out St. Louis Sunday.
Seattle’s defense forced four Steelers interceptions, including a game-sealing pick in the closing minutes off of quarterback Landry Jones. “What I will say is that he has sustained what is described as a concussion, and he is in the protocol”. “There’s no reason why we can’t win that down”. Markus Wheaton torched the Seattle Seahawks secondary for 201 yards on nine catches.
Seattle had problems with the middle of the field again, and has not been able to cover tight ends all season long.
Ben Roethlisberger suffered a concussion on Sunday. They ran only 14 times.
“But I think that’s just a portion of his game”.
-PASS DEFENSE: F. Wilson only had 13 touchdown passes through the first 10 games of the season.
On the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers average 278.9 yards in passing and 119.9 yards in rushing.
In those matchups, Smith had one catch for 16 yards in two games against the Seahawks, Austin had two catches for minus-2 yards, Johnson had seven receptions for 56 yards, Bryant had two catches for 12 yards and Brown had six catches for 51 yards.
He threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns in his team’s 38-20 loss to the Jets. Matt Hasselbeck completed 26 of 42 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin disputed that shortly after, and said Roethlisberger is still going through the NFL’s concussion protocol. He proceeded to play the next nine plays, which led the Steelers to the red zone for a field goal.
