Ramos warns Barca: Good form won’t last forever
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has fired a warning shot at Los Blancos’ rivals Barcelona, insisting that their good form won’t last forever.
Over the last week they have hit the net 14 times, racking up consecutive wins against Madrid, Roma and Real Sociedad.
After winning a treble of Champions League, La Liga and King’s Cup titles last term, Barca are four points clear at the top of Spain’s domestic league and through to the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition as group winners.
Barcelona will this week welcome Villanovense to the Nou Camp for the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie.
Luis Enrique is again likely to rest most of his first-choice players, including prolific attacking trio Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, but may hold some of them in reserve in case Barca struggle.
And he reiterated that stance on Tuesday, adding: “I would, of course, like to sign new players, I will always say that but there are certain factors to consider”.
However, as Barcelona prepare to jet off to the Club World Cup in Japan, Vermaelen said he was feeling good and looking forward to the experience of playing in the Federation Internationale de Football Association tournament, which features the six continental champions.
Neymar’s name has been attached to further controversy when Barca made a complaint regarding commentary from two former Madrid players, Manolo Sanchis and Poli Rincon, alleging they said Isco’s kick on the Brazil captain in the Clasico was justified.
‘To win the Cup you have to get past the last 32 and right now we are tied at 0-0’.
“At the minute it’s 0-0 so there is work to be done”.
