Titans Fall to Jaguars 13-19 on Thursday Night Football

Mariota had the Titans’ only touchdown on a 23-yard run, executing the read option to perfection.

The former Portland State star tight end has struggled this season, but he may be ready to turn his season around after catching the game-winning touchdown pass in the Jaguars 19-13 win against Tennessee Thursday.

Greene, playing in his first game since returning from injured reserve, returned a Tennessee punt to the Titans 5-yard line with 3:34 left in the game.

The Tennessee Titans got a chance to show off their young team and franchise quarterback Marcus Mariota to a national audience on Thursday Night Football, but come up short with more fourth quarter mistakes.

Special teams finally delivered with a massive punt return by Rashad Greene (more on that later), Bryan Anger booted time-efficient punts and Jason Myers went 4-of-4 on field goals against the Titans.

Leading 13-9 early in the fourth quarter, the Titans faced fourth-and-2 at the Jacksonville 35-yard line. His top target once again was tight end Delanie Walker, who finished with 109 yards on eight receptions.

If they stayed to the end just for pleasure and with no dog in the hunt, I contend these are people with either questionable fantasy teams or no life. It was the second-longest run of the season allowed by the Jaguars, who featured the best run defense on a yards-per-carry basis coming into the game.

“We’re by no means looking at this as it’s over, not by any means”. He applied pressure to get a good hit on the quarterback so I thought he played better than he has.

With a first down at the seven yard line to start the half, the Jaguars chose to run Denard Robinson three times, but only gained 5 yards. This was only 56 yards less than 316 total offensive yards the Titans had by the end of the game.

Kicking off the Week 11 NFL schedule on “Thursday Night Football”, we had a divisional matchup between the Titans and the Jaguars. Jacksonville has already dropped games to both teams, so tiebreaker scenarios are already working against the Jags, but the fact that they’re within striking distance (even if either or both the Colts and Texans win) seems wonderful.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Bolts were 2-2 and hanging around in the AFC West. But the current losing streak has reached five games and there have been a bunch of heartbreakers along the way.

Right from the jump, this was not an especially well-played game. Mariota and the rest of the offense had to adapt to these changes and they still seem to be given how they’ve only been under Mularkey for three weeks.

As I’ve said many times before, one of the toughest things to do when evaluating a quarterback is separating him from what is going on around him, both good and bad. We’ve proven that. We’ve proven it through the whole year, not just the last three games.
