Patrick Kane extends point streak to 20 games
Patrick Kane, the 27-year-old Buffalo native who has harassed the Wild since they joined the Central Division, extended his point streak to 20 games early in the second period, a streak that is longer than any American NHL player ever.
The Minnesota Wild beat Chicago 2-1 Tuesday night, hoping to rebound from what’s been a tough stretch. “That’s where we’ve been spending time and try to control the game in that area, making them defend, and (there hasn’t) been enough of that”.
“That’s a real good response from our group”, Yeo said.
Crawford stopped 34 of 36 shots for the Blackhawks.
Justin Abdelkader had two goals, an assist and a fight, and Tomas Tatar and Drew Miller also scored for Detroit.
Four minutes into the period, the Blackhawks got a power play opportunity, and they capitalized to tie things up. Kane has 15 goals and 38 points on the season.
The Wild dominated the first period, outshooting Chicago 14-8 and taking a 1-0 lead on Pominville’s wraparound goal 4:09 in. They had also struggled on the road and entered Tuesday having dropped their last three road contests.
After Crawford stopped Jared Spurgeon’s shot from the slot, Granlund fired the rebound to the left of a wide-open net. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Kyle Chipchura scored for the Coyotes, who carried a 2-1 lead into the third period.
As the period wore on, the Blackhawks finally began to generate some chances thanks to Jonathan Toews. After Duncan Keith made a solid defensive play to keep the puck in the zone, he found Patrick Kane wide open in front of the net.
The sellout crowd of 21,580 suddenly went silent for a moment as Kane held the puck and looked to the left to fake Dubnyk. “I kind of flubbed the shot”.
With Crawford pulled for an extra attacker – and Kane on the ice- the Blackhawks had several chances in the closing two minutes but failed to connect.
Canadiens 2, Blue Jackets 1: Mike Condon got the win in place of injured Montreal star Carey Price, who is expected to miss at least six weeks with a lower-body injury.
Duchene had a franchise-record 11 November goals, and picked up right where he left off on the first day of December.
