Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler has caught the attention of Sports
The Denver Broncos saw Brock Osweiler win his second straight start on Sunday against the Patriots and the quarterback will continue starting for Peyton Manning while Manning is injured.
Last night’s marquee match-up for NFL Sunday Night Football resulted in the Patriots’ first loss of the season – and an injury to star tight end Rob Gronkowski – as the Denver Broncos defeated New England 30-24 in overtime.
It wouldn’t have come to that had Osweiler not connected with Demaryius Thomas for 36 yards, then Emmanuel Sanders for 39, as part of an 83-yard march for a 24-21 lead with 1:09 left in regulation. But Brady needed just five plays to drive the Patriots 51 yards and into range for Stephen Gostkowski’s 47-yard field goal with no time left. Not to mention his drive in overtime that allowed C.J. Anderson to trot down the sidelines and into the endzone to send Denver running into the snowy night.
He has caught 57 passes for 931 yards and nine touchdowns over 11 games this season. The fourth-year quarterback out of Arizona State threw for 270 yards in the Nike Lunarbeast Elite TC cleats, completing 23 of 42 passes with one passing touchdown.
Gronkowski suffered the injury with 2:49 remaining in the fourth quarter, when Broncos defensive back Darian Stewart hit him low on an incomplete pass. Gronkowski’s leg whipped back as it made contact with Stewart. Now that the dust has settled and an MRI has revealed that the injury isn’t serious, the focus has turned to how the referees are treating the Patriots Pro Bowl tight end.
Oddly enough, it seems some National Football League players are willing to risk their heads in favor of saving their knees. “And that just gives everybody confidence that, hey, we do our job, we’re going to be in the right play, we’re going to be doing the right things, we can be successful”.
On the winning play, Osweiler, who swears he never let a day go by where he didn’t learn a lesson from Manning, diagnosed the defense and checked into a run.
“I’m not surprised at all”, said receiver Bubba Caldwell, who caught the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.
With that, New England lost its aura of invincibility – both on the field and on social media.
“I wouldn’t say it’s …”
Things looked bleak for the Broncos after Bolden’s TD made it 21-7 and New England forced a three-and-out. After rushing for more than 80 yards in a game six times previous year, he entered November having yet to crack more than 43 yards in a game. That’s one of two games the Patriots have left against 6-5 teams. “And as I got a toss and I just saw [tackle Ryan Harris] deep for me, and I thought, if he can get to the hole, I better be able to get to the hole”. I don’t think I’ve ever been so pissed off after a loss. And it’s certainly not to leave it up to a call here or a call there or one player.
Brock Osweiler will lead the Denver Broncos against the Chargers in San Diego next week.
