Club spent more than £2million on fees to agents
During the period concerned, there were a total of 1,287 transactions carried out by Premier League clubs, which takes into account new contracts, inbound and outbound transfers.
The collective outlay grew from £115,261,136 to £129,857,560, with Liverpool spending the most on agents in the last two windows.
Newcastle United, who are struggling in the lower reaches of the league, spent a healthy £5.9m on the services of agents over the 12-month period.
The 20 team Premier League paid out a whopping £130 million in transfer agent fees a year ago.
In recent years, there has also been the rise of the “super agent”, men so powerful in the game that they can make even more money than the clients they represent and are involved in some of the biggest deals seen. The amounts include payments made by clubs on behalf of players.
For Championship and League One clubs, it’s become increasingly easy to progress to the League Cup’s latter stages in recent seasons.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Manchester City spent £12.4m on agents’ fees as they acquired such stars as Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, while both Chelsea and Arsenal spent over £11m.
