Apple may be discontinuing the 11-inch MacBook Air
Neurogadget says the reason why Apple didn’t announce the coming of the new MacBook is because the company is waiting for the “most wonderful time of the year” to announce one of its anticipated devices.
For MacBook Air 2016, reports said the laptop will make an appearance at next year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, which will be held in June.
Both 13- and 15-inch variants seem to be confirmed, but the presence of an 11-inch model among Apple’s 2016 MacBook Air offerings seems to be in doubt, according to a report from MacRumors. The MacBook Pro series is now available in two models, 13-inch and 15-inch and since the MacBook Air will also support a 15-inch display, there is a possibility that the company could be releasing a new MacBook Pro with a 17-inch display in the near future. The new notebook is thinner than the MacBook Air and comes with a new keyboard that shortens key travel, but makes it thinner overall.
Apple’s MacBook Air is a peculiar line with its own unique set of features, and Apple have been putting a lot of effort into promoting the positive impact of this line on everyday productivity and portability.
“The slimmer design will be enabled by fully redesigned internal components across the board, and Apple is reportedly now working with its suppliers to develop these new components”. However, the tech giant will not likely to release its new laptop this year.
Ok, so this is a bit of an out-there rumour, but it really is possible that Apple will one day release a new MacBook with a solar powered display.
Other specs and features that Apple fans are hoping to see, and will most probably be happening, are the Force Touch trackpad that debuted on Apple’s 12-inch MacBook, and a USB Type-C post.
Currently, the MacBook Air comes in 11-inch and 13-inch flavors, but that could be changing next year when the 2016 MacBook Air releases. However, Apple hasn’t given the MacBook Air a major upgrade since 2010 and maybe now is the right time to deliver.
That said, it may come to pass that none of this would be true, though it could leave Apple with a gap in its product lineup.
