In Search Of The Perfect Christmas Tree
The state of OR may not be in a drought, but as Samantha Cortese reports, the lack of rain may have impacted our Christmas tree supply here in the desert, and throughout California.
Despite a dry October and wind storm earlier this month, he said it’s been a good year for his crop and he expects it to be a good year for Christmas tree sales.

For numerous customers who visit every year it’s a matter of tradition. “My Dad used to say, ‘You’re not selling a tree, you’re selling a tradition, ‘” Miller said. “Like my mom, I buy the frasier fir spray and spray it through the house and you never know”, says Lee Ann Barbery.
Families are out in search of the ideal Christmas tree to be adorned with lights and ornaments.
“We try to make it a good experience for them”, said Doles. The balsam firs will be delivered to military families in Fort Leonard, Missouri, as part of the Trees for Troops program. They also say that for every real Christmas tree harvested, 2-3 seedlings are planted in its place.
Thanksgiving is in the books, so enjoy those leftovers while you still can because the holiday season is here.
The only thing you will likely see more of than trees is smiles as families search for the ideal Christmas tree.
“They cuddle up to it once, they probably won’t the second time, because it’s kind of like cuddling with a porcupine”, says Harmon.
