The Good Dinosaur scores Pixar’s lowest opening weekend since Toy Story
“Mockingjay – Part 2″ is already the eighth-highest-grossing film of the year, though that is far below, for example, “Mockingjay – Part 1″ becoming the second-highest-grossing movie of 2014 and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” coming in at number one in 2013.

Rentrak senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian said that the movie is a real crowd pleaser.
“The Good Dinosaur” was expected to produce $54 million from Friday to Sunday, the estimate of BoxOffice.com.
Pixar’s latest movie, The Good Dinosaur, has scored the studio’s lowest opening weekend since its debut movie Toy Story. At least The Good Dinosaur has probably captured the attention span of young kids, to the likely chagrin of other kids movie fare like The Peanuts Movie, and it also doesn’t have to worry about other wide-release competition until Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip opens on December 18.
Back in June, Pixar also released Inside Out, which dominated the box office with a $90.4 million opening, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In second place in its debut weekend was Disney’s animated “The Good Dinosaur” at US$55.6 million.
“This is the first Pixar film in a long, long time to come out at this time of year”, said Dave Hollis, Disney’s distribution chief. This weekend’s result is another testament to the way they do things. The movie earned fantastic reviews from audiences and critics alike, and its earnings reflect the love it’s been receiving, as the boxing movie opened to $42.6 million, instantly recouping MGM and New Line Cinema’s $35 million investment in the attempted franchise resurrection. The critically acclaimed Ryan Coogler-directed film focuses on the character of Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) who wants his own shot in the ring with the help of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). Number two in foreign sales this week was The Martian, with its late opener in China bringing home $50.1 million for a global gross of $545.1 million.
“This is a movie that played broadly everywhere”. Starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe, the sci-fi movie earned approximately $3.4 million from 2,797 theaters and got a C CinemaScore. It has made $7.3 million in its first three weeks.
The movie takes place from the point-of-view of Igor and reportedly cost million to make, Deadline reports. “Victor Frankenstein” didn’t make the top 10. Worldwide it has made roughly $441 million, after just 10 days of release.
