Russell Wilson, Seahawks outlast Steelers

He was 21 of 30 passing for 345 yards, Wilson’s most in a regular-season game, topped only by a playoff performance at Atlanta in his rookie season. “We’re going to do what’s appropriate and take care of our guys. This all happened without finishing the game with star tight end Jimmy Graham, who was taken off the field in a stretcher with a right knee injury after back-to-back third down catches.

Graham was carted off the field on Sunday with an aircast on his right leg after a gruesome injury early in the fourth quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Obviously, to lose him really hurts”, Wilson said. Kearse had four catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns, while Baldwin hauled in six grabs for 147 yards and three touchdowns.

WHEATON’S DAY WASTED: Wide receiver Markus Wheaton’s career-high nine catches for a career-high 201 yards and a touchdown didn’t contribute to a victory, and that’s all that mattered to Wheaton. Sherman had one interception – and another that didn’t count in the standings on a failed two-point conversion – while Brown caught six passes for 51 yards.

“I have to figure it out”, Wilson said. “I thought he played a fantastic football game for his first really big game”.

“We come here to win games”, Wheaton said.

“Sometimes it bounces your way”, Sherman said, “sometimes it doesn’t”. Carroll said FB Will Tukuafu and DL Demarcus Dobbs are both going through concussion protocol…. However, having concussion symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean that a player has suffered a concussion, and the Steelers’ quarterback could quickly be cleared to practice for the team’s upcoming matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. Rawls averaged 5.1 yards per carry in the first half, but Pittsburgh’s run defense was far better in the second half.

Tomlin said it came down to execution.

Wilson converted three third downs of 10 yards and two of 16 yards as Seattle was 7-of-13 on third down in the game. Their 68 points in the last two games are their most since last November 2 and 9 against Oakland and the New York Giants.

-SPECIAL TEAMS: C. Steven Hauschka had an extra point blocked in the second quarter that ultimately forced Seattle to leave three points off the scoreboard.

Baldwin shook off two would-be tacklers, stiff-arming one, and raced home for the clincher. “You can’t get challenged more in a game than (the Steelers) challenged him, and he made play after play after play”. He did not return.

The game served as some continued redemption for a Seahawks passing attack that has taken its share of criticism this season.
