Sheena murder: Peter Mukerjea in judicial custody till December 14
Peter Mukerjea Peter MukerjeaPeter Mukerjea will now be confined to the congested barrack of the high-security cell in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail until December 14.
Former media baron Peter Mukerjea, one of the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, was on Tuesday sent to judicial custody till December 14 by a special court here.
He was also asked if they had parked their “ill-gotten” gains in her account/s. The report said that most questions tried to gather information on Peter’s possible role in the conspiracy to murder Indrani’s daughter from a previous marriage, Sheena. However, taking a dig at the agency, Peter’s lawyer Kushal Mor said in the court that they don’t have any objection to extension of his CBI custody for the complete satisfaction of the agency.
Peter had earlier claimed in the court that he was innocent.
Sheena Bora, Indrani’s 24-year-old daughter from her earlier partner Siddhartha Das, was allegedly strangulated in a auto on the night of April 24, 2012.
The CBI arrested Peter based on the conversations he had with his son Rahul, leading him to believe that he spoke to Sheena (after her death) and that she is fine in the US.
Stating that there were no fresh grounds for his further custodial interrogation, the CBI sought judicial custody of Mukerjea, who underwent a polygraph test in New Delhi on November 28. The CBI had taken Peter’s custody citing a financial trail.
Advocate Abhay Nevagi, who appeared for Dabholkar’s family, said, “In the Sheena Bora murder case, the CBI has filed a 1,000-page charge sheet in 60 days, but in Mr. Dabholkar’s case it is either lethargic or is under political pressure”.
