Richt unlikely to jump at any current job openings

Even though Richt never came right out and said it, the reason for being let go could have do to because the Bulldogs never won a national championship. “You might get really excited about that”. “I really won’t have hardly anything to say about the search”. Don’t jump the gun. You’re right. We are judged upon the success of particularly football because of the interest and revenue it does generate for our programs, for sure.

A leading candidate in Georgia’s search could be Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, a former Georgia safety and assistant coach under Richt. He has not visited any other schools since he committed to UGA. “If you attended this press conference, it just restates what Mark Richt is all about, which is a person I’m exceptionally proud of, who I hired, who performed on the field and also performed off the field. That’s the prerogative of the people in charge, and I understand that”.
