Christmas Ad For German Supermarket Will Make You Cry
Jung Von Matt launched a holiday spot for German supermarket chain Edeka which has garnered its fair share of attention and controversy. In a sudden and very morbid plot twist, little ol’ grandpa kicks it and all his family finally come together again for the funeral.
We see the man watch from his kitchen window as neighbors welcome their relatives home.
The ad centers around an elderly man who finds himself spending Christmas dinner alone, as his daughter leaves a message saying she won’t make it this year but will try the next. It happens year after year, and time after time the old man is left by himself at a long dining room table.
SUPERMARKETS and shops in the United Kingdom are leaders of moving Christmas adverts which remind us to pick up the phone and call family at this time of year; however, one German supermarket appears to be beating them all. “How else could I have brought you all together?” he asks, before the family shares a joyful meal together. At the time of publishing, the ad had been viewed almost 20 million times just a mere few days after its publishing.
