Cyber Monday gains on Black Friday
“We’ll see a less dramatic spike on Cyber Monday”.
Plus, there are all the comfort perks that go along with Cyber Monday.
Cyber Monday was the biggest e-commerce sales day ever. Amazon in October said it would be hiring 100,000 people over the holidays, up 25 percent from a year ago, while FedEx said it will hire 55,000 seasonal workers in a 10 percent increase.
IBM says smartphone shoppers spent $102.02 per order.
People will be shopping on their phones, at their desks at work, and on their tablets when they return home.
121.3 million people are expected to shop online for Cyber Monday deals, according to the National Retail Federation.
Adobe Systems Inc said Saturday online sales for Thanksgiving and Black Friday rose 18 percent to $4.4 billion.
Somewhat more encouragingly, RetailNext noted that while it found Black Friday was down 1.8 percent, the decline was considerably smaller than the monthly declines experienced throughout spring, summer and autumn of 2015.
By the end of the day the Centre for Retail Research predicts spending online and in-stores across the entire Black Friday four-day period will hit £3.49 billion, with M astercard going further and predicting United Kingdom consumers will end up spending £5.9bn on all retail sectors (excluding fuel). “Most of us are doing online shopping on a regular basis”.
Some £943 million is expected to be spent online on Cyber Monday, up from £720 million previous year, according to Experian-IMRG.
The survey, conducted November 27-28, 2015 by Prosper Insights & Analytics for NRF, polled 4,281 consumers and has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points. To find out, just consider the facts.
The survey shows that 42.2% of customers plan to shop online in the early morning of Cyber Monday, while 33% meant to shop later in the morning. That figure had been down for two straight years, dropping 11 percent to $50.9 billion in 2014. Amazon is the leading shipping club and stands to win the most from this trend. That is down from about $381 over the same weekend past year, although the NRF said those numbers are not comparable because it changed the survey’s methodology. No lines had more than a few customers.
ShopperTrak’s projections are based in part on traffic data from tens of thousands of devices installed at bricks-and-mortar locations across the United States. First, consumers have made a decision to avoid the Black Friday mayhem and take advantage of pre-holiday sales offers. “The results for physical retail are generally positive when considering the growing influence of digital shopping, particularly in the mobile channel”. Now, many stores offer several hundred doorbusters, and numerous items don’t carry a name brand. Some hot sellers were in scarce supply by early afternoon on Monday. Twitter sentiment around those tweets was 24% positive, 69% neutral, and 7% negative.
