Mark Hamill on holding secrets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens
In other Star Wars news, Disney has released the latest TV spot for The Force Awakens, this time focusing on British actor John Boyega’s rogue stormtrooper Finn. I didn’t tell Harrison, or my wife because I thought it would be bad if she said ‘You know what…’ to a fan and it got out.
It looks like EA Games has this week launched the first of many Star Wars Battlefront titles as the publisher has announced that they have plans for many sequels.
Mark Hamill spoke with PC Gamer about his highly-sushed role return to the Star Wars franchise as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Force Awakens.
So, with that in mind, which of these mysterious characters are we most excited to see when Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released next month? Irvin Kershner [director of The Empire Strike Back] said ‘I know something, I’m going to tell you. It’s all about generations, and issues of fathers and sons and grandfathers.
“The fans are much more knowledgeable about this sort of thing than I am”. “People don’t actually realize it’s actually a soap opera and it’s all about family problems – it’s not about spaceships”.
He also said the creators of the new film ‘weren’t that keen to have me involved anyway’.
It’s not every day you get a surprise from Harrison Ford. “There’s no level they won’t go to accomplish what they’re after”. “The second rule, you don’t go to their house and drive by to see what they’re doing”.
“‘The third one is you don’t show up at their coffee shop… you just say ‘nope, gone, history, I’m moving forward”. I hope kids my age have as good an experience as I did so we’ll get yet another generation of Star Wars fans.
The J.J. Abrams-directed “The Force Awakens” did not involve Lucas – a fact that the director clarified by comparing it to the aftermath of a breakup, where there should be no post-split phone calls and drive-bys.
