Girls Season 5 Trailer: New Boyfriends, Japan and a Wedding
Dunham has said herself that she has always imagined the show ending after six seasons so Season 5 would be the beginning of these girls finally figuring out their place in the world.
The trailer for the latest series of the HBO series premiered on Thursday and shows Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna growing apart and moving on.
But soon after these words flash across the screen: Girls Grow Up. So what can we expect from season five?
We haven’t lost Shosh (Zosia Mamet) in Japan either.
The end of Season 4 saw Marnie (Allison Williams) devastated and she was stood up at her show by fiance and fellow band member Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). Marnie is still highly-strung and hapless, appearing tear-streaked in a bathroom while wearing a wedding dress.
“The very least you can do right now is to pretend I might be doing the right thing”, a nervous Marnie says. Beyond that, there’s also the continuing journey of Shoshanna’s life in Japan, while today’s trailer offers a fleeting glimpse of Adam Driver’s returning character, fresh from his turn on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That means we still get two more years with Hannah Horvath and the gang, as the show’s fifth iteration launches this February.
“Where is Adam?” wrote another.
Girls season 5 will premiere on HBO come Sunday, February 21 and you can share your early impressions of the debut trailer via the comments section below. The series airs in Australia via Foxtel’s Showcase channel.
