Comedy Central ‘hopes to reschedule’ Chris Brown’s Daily Show appearance
“The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” had scheduled an interview with Chris Brown for its Tuesday night show, but the appearance was canceled due to show staff being uncomfortable about having the artist on, according to the Daily Beast.
The Washington Post notes that while the T.V. schedule still said Brown would appear, the Daily Show’s Instagram announced a few hours before showtime that Cannon would be the guest. “The show hopes to reschedule Chris for a future appearance”.
No further details were provided.
Actor and comedian Nick Cannon appears on “The Daily Show” on Tuesday, instead of Chris Brown.
“The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” premiered on September 28th on Comedy Central and is available to stream on thedailyshow.com and the Comedy Central App. Earlier this week, staffers reportedly told The Daily Beast that Brown’s booking had caused some concern among team members – doubtless due to the “Loyal” singer’s checkered past.
Chris Brown is infamous for violently assaulting his then-girlfriend, the pop singer Rihanna, and then pleading guilty to it in 2009. Our sources confirmed that Noah brought up such a possibility during an all-hands meeting on Monday afternoon.
However, it would seem as though the host lost the fight to get Brown on the show.
Noah, whose own mother was abused by his stepfather, claimed that he had meant to use Brown’s interview to ask the star direct questions about his history as a domestic abuser, rather than use the appearance to promote Brown’s new album. “I had no clue how big this show was… if I had known, I would not have been so confident signing on”.
