Sixers Finally WIN A GAME in Kobe Bryant’s last game in Philadelphia!
Kobe Bryant started off looking like the same assassin that ripped out 76ers fans’ hearts out in the NBA Finals, but the glimmers of the old Kobe faded and the Lakers were completely flat through the second half.
The Sixers, who had last won on March 25 at Denver, went on a run late in the third quarter to erase a 75-74 deficit and go in front for good, 94-80, with 7:20 left in the game.
Before the game Bryant was asked whether his plans once he retires and whether they could include being involved with the Lakers.
It was a first win in five on the road for the Mavs as Deron Williams (30) and Dirk Nowitzki (28) combined for 58 points. while the returning Wesley Matthews scored 18 against his former team. The report also said the sense is that Scott is not responsible for either the Lakers bad record (2-15) or the awful way in which Bryant continues to play.
Los Angeles Lakers fans who happened to attend Sunday’s game against IN received a copy of Bryant’s letter to basketball, printed on heavy stock paper and sealed IN a black envelope with a gold foil sticker. Some typical Philadelphia late-game struggles helped Los Angeles whittle down the lead to eight points, but consecutive late baskets by Hollis Thompson and Jahlil Okafor put things out of reach. Robert Covington scored 23 points on just 16 shots for the victors, while Jerami Grant continued his eye-opening recent play with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Bryant raised his right arm as the crowd gave one of several loud ovations.
“Finally”, forward Nerlens Noel said.
He buried a step-back 3-pointer off the opening tip.
There was a video tribute to Bryant, a ceremony at center court with Julius Erving and with Bryant’s high school coach.
“To be able to have this moment here”, Bryant said.
Head coach Brett Brown’s team has long languished at the bottom of the National Basketball Association standings and has two losing streaks of at least 26 games in his three seasons.
