Magic’s Aaron Gordon recovering from fractured jaw

Orlando Magic power forward Aaron Gordon is recovering from a fractured jaw.

The former UA standout suffered the injury while home in California; the report said he was “horsing around” with his older brother Drew, a former UCLA and New Mexico player who has spent time in the National Basteball Association, when the injury occurred. His return to basketball-related activities and conditioning sessions will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation.

He is expected to be back and ready to play by the start of the National Basteball Association season, although no official timetable was announced. He shot 50 percent from the floor and from three-point range, showing the kind of versatility and productivity which prompted Orlando to select him fourth overall in the 2014 National Basteball Association Draft.

The improvement in Gordon’s game was obvious, and now his jaw injury threatens to disrupt his momentum. He fractured a bone in the outside of his foot early in the season and he missed 31 games from November 17 through January 14. He has been coming along quite well in the National Basteball Association Summer League this year, averaging 21.7 points and 11.7 boards over three games, according to Robbins. He averaged 5.2 points per game and 3.6 rebounds.
