Carl Edwards takes pole at New Hampshire
Busch’s dominant comeback rolled on Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway when he won for the second straight weekend and for the third time in the last four NASCAR Sprint Cup races.
Busch isn’t where he needs to be in the standings quite yet. He is now 58 points behind 30th-place David Gilliland.
Cole Whitt is 31st and Brett Moffitt 32nd, easy pickings for Busch.
Things were supposed to go back to normal this week with Harvick and Busch, the dominant Phoenix and Richmond winners, being bad to the bone again.
It’s likely if he just puts together average races the rest of the way that he will get in thanks to his two wins, but Busch knows better than anyone else he can’t take it easy if he is going to get in. Kyle Busch became the 12th different victor to win in the 12 most recent New Hampshire races….
He said Friday he still is bothered by the leg injuries, but they hardly seemed to matter in the No. 18 Toyota.
“Everything is working in our favor right now”, Busch said.
“The past couple weekends have been pretty tough on us with Daytona and Kentucky getting rained out, knowing we had a fast auto”, Blaney said.

“I don’t know if it’s a horsepower thing, or whatever”, Larson said. Kenseth finished sixth, Edwards started from the pole and was seventh, and Hamlin 14th.
“To be honest, I feel like I’m getting comfortable right now where we are right now in the NASCAR XFINITY Series”, he said Saturday morning before qualifying at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“I think I’ve got a few good ideas about that”.
“You know, I love dirt-track racing”. NASCAR would certainly put themselves into a box if they wavered and allowed Busch into the chase as many would consider it unfair, especially those around whichever driver would be bumped from the chase to make room for Busch. Stucker said the tires used for the Chase opener at Chicagoland also line up for championship races at Texas Motor Speedway and the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. On lap 20, Busch took the lead from his teammate. Kevin Harvick, who led the morning session, was second.
The race ended under yellow because of a spinning vehicle on the final lap, slowing Busch and everyone behind him to 45 miles per hour as they headed to the checkered flag.
For NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, the road to the chase has been a bit different. With his second on Saturday night, all four were in the top five at once for the first time in the history of the program. “He said he couldn’t promise me that and so I’m not running”. He should have borrowed his son’s bibs for the winner’s 21-pound lobster he was awarded in victory lane.
NASCAR is sticking with its current rules package today at New Hampshire, a flat, 1-mile oval more similar to Martinsville than the intermediate tracks for which the rules packages were primarily designed.
