Toledo off. coordinator Jason Candle front-runner for Rockets head coach
Toledo named offensive coordinator Jason Candle as its head coach on Wednesday after Matt Campbell left last weekend for Iowa State.
Candle is a Mount Union alum (2003). He coached receivers from ’10-11 before adding offensive coordinator duties under Campbell in ’12.
Alex Golesh, who spent the last four seasons at IL, will be Campbell’s tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator. “His hiring brings us consistency as we look forward to a bowl game later this month, and also going forward as we compete for MAC championships in the years to come”.
Iowa State football coach Matt Campbell has continued to officially pluck familiar faces from his old stomping groups. He was a receiver at the Division III powerhouse in Alliance, Ohio, and coached there before coming to Toledo.
Candle coached at his alma mater before going to Toledo. “A lot of great coaches have walked through these doors”.
Personally, I am very happy with the hire and I think every Cyclone football fan around the country should be too.
On Tuesday, Iowa State announced Tyson Veidt as the linebackers coach. Campbell went 9-2 with the Rockets this season, including a 6-2 mark in MAC play, and finished his four-year tenure with a 35-15 record.
