Who is Syed Farook, named by media sources as San Bernardino attacker?
Parents spoke to media following the mass shooting in San Bernardino that left at least 14 dead.
“The reason I am here is to express [for] my family…How sad they are for what happened”, said Khan, adding that he was very sad over lives lost in the shooting.
Burguan said Farook was a county employee who had worked for five years as an environmental specialist in the public health department.
During a news briefing, San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said information surrounding the attack was still “preliminary”.
While police say they know who massacred 14 people Wednesday at a holiday party in San Bernardino, California, the killers’ motives remain a mystery.
A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Syed Farook, 28, was one of the suspects in the shooting.
At the White House, President Barack Obama said after meeting with his national security team that it was “possible this was terrorist-related” but that authorities were unsure. “I have no idea why he would do that”.
Police say another person who was spotted running near the gunbattle was detained but they have said it is unclear if that person had anything to do with the shooting. She called him but never got a response. American Muslim leaders condemned the act and said they stood in solidarity with the families of those killed and wounded.
Several people locked themselves in their offices, desperately waiting to be rescued by police, after the gunfire erupted.
The home is where officers initially saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ SUV in the hours before the final gun battle that killed them. “People shot”, she wrote. “We are reasonably confident we have two shooters, and two dead suspects”, said Burguan.
The relationship between the two deceased suspects, described as a male and female, were unknown.
Authorities have revealed the identities of the two suspects they believe are responsible for the mass shooting at Inland Regional Center.
