Kobe Bryant’s playing time during Lakers grueling stretch not determined
“I’m not really anxious about it, honestly”, Bryant said.
Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers have been struggling this season. However, Scott remained adamant that he had not considered reducing the 37-year-old’s minutes or possibly even benching the five-time champion, citing that Bryant did not seem exhausted and that it was “too early in the season”.
I dont know if im the only one who feels this way, but it looks like the Lakers have given up on Byron Scott and if they have, welcome to the club. “My shooting will be better, we’ll be better”. I could’ve scored 80 tonight. “It’s not just my performance, we just have biggest problems”. “We’ve got Magic [Johnson] and James [Worthy], and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] as a post-up player to demand a double-team”.
Bryant added that even if he averages 35 per outing, the Lakers’ 2-12 dismal record will not be that better. “You can see that he was getting frustrated at himself”.
The Los Angeles Times anonymously interviewed a bunch of people connected to the league and the feedback that they got on Bryant was unsurprisingly critical of Kobe’s game. From the opening tip Golden State controlled the game, and the end of the first quarter read like a varsity team beating up on a JV team at practice, 30-11.
However, he said that it does not depend on them to make the decision whether Bryant will play or retire.
Scott has already been largely criticized by fans and analysts for not using the rookie point guard D’Angelo Williams, and for continuing to trust the aging star that Bryant is. “I still want them to try to understand what this is all about, and I understand that they have to try to figure it out at times”. I don’t think he should wait. I’m not so much anxious about Kobe.
It’s hard to imagine Lakers higher-ups are thrilled with how things have played out thus far, but perhaps they have a different view of this season.
Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek said: “We play 82 games so if you lose a couple games in a row you can’t go insane”. “I’m not going to sit there and say, ‘This is it, Kobe, you’re done, ‘ because it’s not my decision, it’s his decision”. “Comparisons are going to come”.
