Dana White Confirms Ronda Rousey Will Get Immediate Rematch Against Holly Holm
This morning UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN’s Mike And Mike In The Morning and told the duo that the fight is “going to happen”.
Holm (10-0) made short work of the previously undefeated Rousey (12-1) at UFC 193.
Despite the seemingly lopsided outcome, White says the idea of a rematch, something he’s already spoken to Holm about, is a no-brainer. She deserves a rematch. “Holly agrees she deserves a rematch, and we’ll figure it out”, said White. She was immediately transported to a local hospital after the loss and stayed there overnight. Holm, a former multitime world boxing champion, closed as a plus-800 betting underdog against Rousey, making her win the biggest betting upset in UFC history.
As soon as the fight ended talks of a rematch began and now it looks like UFC fans will be getting their wish. Speaking Thursday on an ESPN program, White said the fight would happen.
Mike Winkeljohn, who has coached her for 17 years, thinks Rousey should get in line and believes Miesha Tate should be the fighter Holm defends her title against first. She’s very, very good. Maybe everything caught up with her. Maybe she was exhausted.
Albuquerque city councilors then declared November “Holly Holm Month”.
