Louisiana ranks lowest in country in gun control

This is not just a what-if scenario. “I ask you…Do you trust this government to protect you?”

Just hours before Wednesday’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., a petition from doctors asking that a restriction on research into gun violence be lifted was delivered to Congress.

He also added, “For those who are concerned about terrorism of, you know, some may be aware of the fact that we have a no fly list where people can’t get on planes, but those same people who we don’t allow to fly could go into a store right now in the United States and buy a firearm and there’s nothing that we can do to stop them”.

You may note that these are the same people who clutch their pearls as they speak of the dangers they feel from foreign terrorism.

“Membership in a terrorist organization does not prohibit a person from possessing firearms or explosives under current federal law”, the GAO warned back in 2010. There has been no explanation of what the amendments would entail, but tightening gun-ownership eligibility and banning certain firearms are often among their priorities. It was introduced by Sen. As many of my friends point out, even in countries with virtually no guns, such as Great Britain, gun deaths still occur. As a society, however, we’ve accepted that some guns will kill innocents. Does California shooting mean we need more gun control?

The third counterargument, and perhaps most important one, is the message we’re sending by failing to act.

Though gun control did not even merit a mention in Clinton’s campaign kickoff speech last April, the issue has become a central cause of her presidential bid in recent months after a series of mass shootings. “And when people use weapons in a awful way, we should condemn the actions of the individual and not blame the action on some weapon”.
