76ers top Lakers for 1st win of season, snap 28-game skid
The team last won a game in late March. With the Lakers playing against the 76ers on Tuesday night, the Sixers used the opportunity to make a wonderful video tribute to Bryant, appropriately called “Dear Kobe”.
Scott said some of Bryant’s shots were “ill-advised”.
“Finally!” Nerlens Noel said.
The Sixers are even worse than the Lakers this year (impossible, right?) and we’re told fan interest had been lukewarm… but the Mamba’s swan song was enough to put butts in the seats for the first time all year. “We don’t want this streak continuing”.
“I wasn’t expecting that type of reaction, ovation”, said Bryant, who is retiring at the end of this season. Russell, the No. 2 pick of the 2015 Draft, finished with 12 points (5-of-14), which included the first dunk of his career – a one-handed hammer. There will never, ever be another Kobe Bryant.
Center Nikola Vucevic was one of six players in double figures for the Orlando Magic in a 96-93 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center on Tuesday.
“Initially, I thought our guys were a little bit star-struck”, Brown said.
Bryant, in his first game since announcing his retirement on Sunday, hit three of his first four shots on his way to 13 points in the opening quarter.
NBA superstar Kobe Bryant has been an integral part of basketball and American culture for two decades, and in an exclusive interview with “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts, the elite player explained how he decided it was time to retire from the game. Jordan Clarkson scored 12 of his 19 points in this frame, but the remaining Lakers shot just 2-of-22, allowing Philadelphia to take an 80-75 lead. His announcement came before his team’s 107-103 loss to the Indiana Pacers, and after the contest the all-time great said he intends to treasure every last moment of his final campaign. He missed his third shot, another three-point attempt, but the Lakers got an offensive rebound and managed to get no. 24 the ball back in a hurry.
A third-quarter tussle between Lakers center Roy Hibbert and the Sixers’ Isaiah Canaan, JaKarr Sampson and Jerami Grant seemed to wake up the Sixers.
Forward Julius Randle added 10 points and guard Lou Williams, an ex-Sixer, added nine in the two quarters as Los Angeles took a 58-50 lead.
