Brazil soccer great Pele is hospitalized
Mirtes Bogea, a press officer for the Albert Einstein hospital, said Saturday, July 18, 2015 she could only confirm Pele’s hospitalization.
Brazil legend Pele is in hospital after undergoing back surgery. His pain is under control and he is expected to fully recover.
The hospital said in a statement Pele was hospitalized on Monday, and the “previously scheduled” surgery was performed on Tuesday.
Last May the ex-soccer player was admitted to the same hospital, where he was operated for hyperplasia of the prostate.
In May, the global sporting icon was hospitalised for four days and had surgery for an enlarged prostate.
Pele, a three-time World Cup victor, was treated for a urinary infection past year after having kidney stones removed, the BBC reported.
He also had surgery on his femur in November 2012.
Pele, born Edson Arantes de Nascimento, is widely considered the greatest footballer of all-time.
As stated by Sky News, the Brazilian sports star is receiving treatment at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo.
