76ers present tribute video for Kobe Bryant before Lakers match
The Philadelphia 76ers’ historic and agonising losing streak finally ended on Tuesday as Kobe Bryant suffered more defeat with the Los Angeles Lakers in his first road match since announcing his plans to retire.
Wall averaged 14.5 assists to lead the Wizards to a two-game sweep of the season series in 2014-15.
There was little effort by Bryant to get his teammates involved, at least early on, and that seemed to affect the Lakers the rest of the way. The respect that Bryant is receiving right now, and will continue to get throughout the year, will become an emotional ride for all National Basketball Association fans who grew up watching him. The Lakers clawed back in front behind Clarkson, who had 12 points in the period, but the Sixers notched the last six points of the period on two free throws by two free throws and a dunk by Noel, as well as a jam by Grant.
Following Kobe Bryant’s Sunday announcement that he’ll be retiring after the season, his farewell tour began in earnest Tuesday as he was given a warm reception in his hometown Philadelphia.
“When I was in high school, I hoped to be a Sixer”, Bryant said. Brown said Okafor, who has apologized for his recent decisions, will likely soon be accompanied by team security on public outings.
Midway through the first quarter, the Wizards honored Bryant with a message on the video board that read: “Thank you for an fantastic 20 years”.
He was greeted at midcourt by his Lower Merion high school coach, Gregg Downer, and 76ers great Julius Erving.
Philadelphia, who trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half, opened the third quarter with a 19-7 rush to go ahead 69-65. When Bryant returned the following year for the All-Star Game, the Philadelphia Faithful lustily booed their not-so-favorite son.
“He’ll tell me, ‘I just don’t have legs, ‘” Scott said. He added another double-double to his faux rookie season, ending with 15 points to go with his work corralling loose balls. Then he missed his next six shots before regaining his rhythm in the fourth quarter, each made shot drawing a louder roar from an even mix of Wizards and Lakers fans.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia will head to the Big Apple to take on the New York Knicks, also on Wednesday.
