Police Searching for 3 White Suspects After What Happened at a
Demonstrators have pitched tents outside a police station near the shooting scene, and dozens of people have been arrested during ensuing protests. “I share numerous emotions that people are feeling in Minneapolis today”. When Habu asked why they were filming, the group refused to provide a direct answer. “I thought, ‘Surely, they are not shooting at us'”. All had injuries that were not life-threatening.
Several men who had behaved suspiciously reportedly were being chased by Black Lives Matter supporters when they turned, shot and wounded five protesters about a block from the protest site next to the Minneapolis Police Department’s Fourth Precinct.
Minneapolis police arrested a 23-year-old white man in Bloomington around noon.
Another man who as taken into custody at around noon has since been released after police said they discovered he was not at the shooting scene.
Eddie Sutton, Jamar’s brother, issued a statement early Tuesday. Protesters have said grand juries are unlikely to indict police officers.
The suspects opened fire on Morgan Avenue N., which is about a block from the precinct station where demonstrations have been carried out since the November 15 fatal shooting of an unarmed black man, Jamar Clark, at the hands of the police. The diverse crowd, which included a number of children, listened to hip-hop music and soul classics such as “A Change Is Gonna Come”. We can’t back down. We appreciate Black Lives Matter for holding it down and keeping the protests peaceful.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating Mr Clark’s shooting, as is the FBI, which has said release of videos and other evidence would be detrimental to the investigation. But demonstrators said they would not be intimidated or “bow to fear”.
It wasn’t immediately clear who was behind the attack.
Clark’s family had asked the protests to stop after Monday’s shootings. Some made racist comments.

“We are sparing no efforts to bring any and all those responsible to justice”, Mayor Betsy Hodges said after the first arrest. Brown lives near the precinct building where the shooting took place and said she was cooking dinner for the protesters when “these four white guys walked up….”
The Associated Press reports that Oluchi Omeoga, a witness, said three masked white men “weren’t supposed to be there”. They say they demanded the men remove their masks, but the men refused.
“The killing of unarmed black men and incidents of white racial hatred have become too common, too predictable”.
“It was so busy and chaotic”, Wronski-Riley said.
One victim was shot in the stomach and underwent surgery early Tuesday, Noor said. Some activists expressed dismay on social media at the police department’s slow response time. Fifty-one people were arrested before the highway reopened.
Some community members also say it’s time for a protesters’ encampment to shut down. “I need them, and I’m not going to lay down”, he said. Wesley Martin was among those who escorted them away.
