Scott Weiland, former front man of Stone Temple Pilots, dead at 48
Sad news tonight in the rock world that grunge legend Scott Weiland of the iconic rock band Stone Temple Pilots has passed away at the age of 48.
The news was tweeted by rocker Dave Navarro on Thursday night (December 3) and TMZ reports that he was found dead on his tour bus. “So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight”, Navarro said. As of now, the cause of death is unknown.
Best known for his work with STP, Weiland wrote and recorded such hits as “Interstate Love Song”, “Plush”, and “Creep”.
The singer, who had a long and well-publicized battle with drugs and addiction, also put out four solo albums, including Blaster, his first with the Wildabouts, which came out earlier this year. The band was supposed to play the Medina Ballroom on Thursday evening, but that show was canceled.
This is a developing story and we will update with more details as they become available.
