Micromax Yu Yutopia launch postponed to 17 December
The spokesperson of the company has said that the launch of Micromax YU Yutopia has been delayed as there are two phone launches lined up and also December 17 happens to be the anniversary of the brand.
Good and bad news for Android fans anxious to purchase YU’s first true flagship smartphone, as the Indian company announced its upcoming Yutopia handset won’t be unveiled on December 7.
It is worth mentioning that the invites were already sent for the launch event and the delay from YU is a hardly made decision. YU Televentures’ Rahul Sharma tweeted about the delay, “Hold your excitement, as we plan to announce something special with YUTOPIA”. He further elaborated that the company didn’t want separate the launch events and thus shifted the launch date to 17th December. While one of them will be the Yutopia handset, the other device would not be a smartphone.
The case pertains to the payment of royalty to a suit filed by telecom giant Ericsson on the sale of its handsets to Micromax.
The Delhi Court on 2 December jumped back on the issue stating that its November 2014 injunction applies to the Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures as well.
Last November, the Delhi High Court had directed Micromax to pay Ericsson 1 per cent of the selling price of its devices for using its patents on technologies that are essential to manufacture the products. And this has in turn led to another hearing for which Micromax will have to appear in court on 15 December.
