Finally! Sixers beat Lakers to end losing skid
“And I’ve got to just get him out of there as soon as possible and hope that he can get them back somehow in the next 5 or 10 minutes, or if not, just wait until the next game”.
What was surprising was hearing John Wall-the Wizards’ transcendent point guard who scored 34 points, and claimed 11 assists and seven rebounds-getting booed while at the free throw line. Bryant led the Lakers with 20. They share that record with the 2009-10 New Jersey Nets, who also dropped their first 18 games.
NOTES: Lakers C Roy Hibbert, Sixers G JaKarr Sampson and Philadelphia F Jerami Grant were all assessed technical fouls after a shoving match with 6:54 left in the third quarter, which began with Sixers G Isaiah Canaan fouling Hibbert…. His haul also featured four three-pointers.
Bryant’s performance came at the end of Los Angeles’ busiest five-day stretch of the season, in which he played at least 32 minutes in all four games.
“I’m not the most emotional person”, Bryant said. Bryant scored 20 points in defeat off of 7-for-26 shooting, including a woeful 4-for-17 behind the arc.
But die-hard Wizards fans may still have a vested interest in catching the game, if only to reminisce over what nearly happened in Bryant’s prime.
Scott said some of Bryant’s shots were “ill-advised”.
Despite having wishes of a not so formal retirement, those plans were out of the circle when Bryant was brought to the centre court where he was presented a framed No. 24 Lower Merion jersey from Dr. J and his high school coach.
“That really gave me a leg up on most of my peers”, Bryant said.
The Magic almost led the entire game, Minnesota scored the first basket of the game but was never able to regain the lead after that. Defensively, he was primarily assigned to Kobe Bryant, who after a hot start fizzled.
It was a first win in five on the road for the Mavs as Deron Williams (30) and Dirk Nowitzki (28) combined for 58 points. while the returning Wesley Matthews scored 18 against his former team.
No matter how bad things get in L.A., and they’ve gotten pretty bad, it looks like Byron Scott will keep his job through the season. Reserve guard Gary Neal remains plagued by a groin injury and power forward Nene has missed two games with a calf issue.
