Cruz says he’s concerned shooting may be Islamic terrorism
“Is there anyone in this room who doesn’t negotiate deals?” And I believe our nation needs a wartime president to defend it.
‘When the president stands up and says the Islamic state isn’t Islamic – that’s just nutty, ‘ Cruz said.
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio pledged to reinstate the from President George W. Bush to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in 2004 in recognizing large settlement blocs in the West Bank as part of Israel.
“When it comes to speaking the truth, this administration does the opposite”, he said, adding the Obama White House gives a justification for terror. We face a very fundamental choice. And he didn’t try to win them over. Trump had said he didn’t know that Israel was committed to negotiations. “Because so much death, so much turmoil, so much hatred – that would be to me a great achievement”.
I’m a negotiator, like you folks…. Trump insisted that he’s self-funding his presidential campaign, though most of his campaign money has in fact come from donations. “Donald Trump is well aware of the composition of our board and our audience”, Mark McNulty said, “one that includes many successful businessmen and women as well as deal makers like him”.
According to Donald Trump, the violence in San Bernardino on Wednesday “probably was related” to “radical Islamic terrorism”. “And this is a fight about our existence”.
“Israel has given a lot but hasn’t been given a lot of credit for what they’ve given”, Trump said.
“You’re not going to support me even though you know I’m the best thing that could happen to Israel”, Trump added.
Trump also tried to appeal to the Jewish audience, and his attempts have elicited strong reaction online – some criticize that he played right into stereotypes.
“My mother told me one time, she said, ‘Johnny … if you want to look for a really good friend, get somebody who’s Jewish”, he said. The Republican front-runner said his concerns are greater regarding “one side in particular”. “Everybody here has seen Schindler’s List”.
Other Republicans speaking: Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Kentucky Sen.
Huckabee rooted his argument for protecting Israel and improving U.S.-Israeli relations in his belief in God.
“Speak the truth”, Cruz said as his first objective. Palestinians want East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in the 1967 war, for their future state. “The next President has many jobs, not including meteorologist-in-chief”, he said.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took a similar tack.
“There’s something going on with him that we don’t know about”, Trump said cryptically.
Bush and the other Republican candidates will be addressing the crowd, with a focus on foreign policy and national security.
He received loud cheers for pledging to “work with the next Attorney General to stop the BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) movement in the United States”, and for condemning the “discrimination” and “anti-Semitic behavior” that occurs “across the United States’ college campuses”.
Ben Carson showed his lack of foreign policy experience in precisely the speech experts said he needed to stave off criticisms about his weak spot. GOP presidential candidates and members of Congress have rallied around Netanyahu this year as he unsuccessfully fought the U.S.-led nuclear deal with Iran, a country viewed by Israel as an existential threat. “I can’t reach her on Saturdays”. “I am convinced that was a terrorist attack”.
