Confirmed! President Obama Enjoys the Saturday Matinee of Hamilton
JONATHAN ERNST/REUTERS President Obama must have gotten a positive review from his wife Michelle, who saw “Hamilton” during its off-Broadway run.
Already viewed by the likes of Hillary Clinton, Dick Cheney, and first lady Michelle Obama, “Hamilton” is unorthodox in its telling of Alexander Hamilton’s life.
You can’t help but wonder if President Obama is taking sides in the dispute over the $10 bill. The play grew out of Miranda’s hip hop recording, Hamilton Mixtape, part of which he performed at the White House in 2009.
The ten-dollar Founding Father without a father/Got a lot farther/By workin’ a lot harder/By bein’ a lot smarter/By bein’ a self-starter. “It was a real kick to see the first three presidents of the United States onstage while sitting with the current president”, he told The New York Times.
The Broadway trip was just one stop in a father-daughter weekend that was crammed full of activities.
The Obama family visited Greenwich Village for dinner at Carbone on Friday and toured New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art.
On Saturday morning, the president strolled on the ball fields in Central Park, just south of Sheep Meadow.
