World’s first washable smartphone to debut in Japan
Japanese electronics manufacturer Kyocera is taking waterproof capabilities to the next level by unveiling a new smartphone that can be washed and is even soap-proof. Details about its availability and price across the global markets are yet to be revealed. Also, there is a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB port and 4G LTE with WiMax plus VoLTE.
Digno Rafre is an incredible smartphone that can be cleaned using a soap with much ease.
The firms claim Rafre to be the first of its kind smartphone which is specifically created to withstand hot water resistance rated at 43° IP58. The Rafre comes with a Rubber dock which doesn’t let it sink in water.
The device is also shockproof (MIL-STD-810G). The Verge reports the phone’s touch panel functions even if it’s wet and the device has a scratch-healing feature that can minimize appearance of scratches. Available in Navy Blue, Cashmere White, and Coral Pink, the handset is efficiently prone to potential accidents. The front is cocooned in Dragontrail X glass, which might sound like a processor, but is Asahi Glass’ latest toughened (flexible!) glass.
Targeted at parents with “kids of this generation” Kyocera’s Digno Rafre will officially launch next Friday at JPY 57,420 ($465/€440). The soap-proof smartphone is also equipped with a 1seg (for digital mobile TV) TV tuner so that users can prop the device to watch a movie while relaxing in the tub.
