FDA reports recall of dog chew bones
There is the potential for this product to be contaminated with salmonella.
Blue Buffalo is voluntarily recalling one production lot of Cub Size Wilderness Wild Chews Bones due to possible Salmonella contamination.
The product was delivered in PetSmart outlets across nine US states including California, Michigan, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Kansas, Minnesota, Nevada and Utah.
Dogs may be are at risk for Salmonella poisoning upon consuming the product.
The recalled chews are Cub Size Wilderness Wild Chew Bones (UPC 840243110087) with an expiration date of November 4, 2017. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, contact your veterinarian. The UPC number is printed on a sticker and the expiration date is located directly on the shrink wrap.
People who bought the product are being urged to throw it out or return it where they bought it for a full refund.
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection in humans include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever.
For pets, Salmonella may cause poor appetite, abdominal pain, fever, bloody diarrhea, diarrhea, lethargy and vomiting.
Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect humans and other pets. Though rare, individuals may also experience such serious ailments as arthritis, endocarditis, eye irritation, arterial infections, muscle pain and urinary tract symptoms.
