Student allegedly brought weapon to school
The school was under a shelter-in-place order after the 15-year-old boy sent a photo of a gun with the message “Boutta [sic] shoot up sfh” to the other student via the social media photo-sharing app “Snapchat”.
“She had no idea anything was even going on”, Haley said. “They got to the bottom of it in minutes with minimal disruption in school”, Baca said. An extra officer will be stationed at the school as a precaution. The calls was meant to alert New Mexico National Guard members employed at the school of an active shooter training exercise on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. “That’s a good thing”, Smith said.
We wanted to share information with you about our school’s cooperation with a police investigation related to a potential threat directed to several individual students.
Smith said that authorities will try to figure out why the student had the gun on campus and what the student’s intentions were. “We would like to have it a lot lower, and I’m sure parents at Lee High School would like to have it at zero, but looking at the big picture overall, no one has been hurt, no one has been shot, and the numbers of weapons are way down”. The BB gun was inoperable, school officials said.
Denver police say a student is under arrest after demanding money from another student and brandishing a weapon during their encounter. In addition, our school district has policies and procedures in place that address this type of significant incident. They also do not believe students coming to school are in any danger.
